Our dog dock diving curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of every dog, regardless of their experience level.

Diving Off the Dock

The initial stage of our advanced dock diving curriculum is all about teaching your dog how to jump off the dock. This session emphasizes ensuring that your dog is not only jumping off the ramp but doing so with enthusiasm and energy. We focus on the importance of your dog learning to concentrate on diving, grabbing the toy, and making a splash landing into the water, toy in mouth.

Advancing Skills

As your dog becomes more confident with diving off the dock, our lessons evolve to challenge them further and fine-tune their skills. By introducing an element of playful frustration, such as having a trainer restrain the dog momentarily before letting them chase after the thrown toy, we heighten their drive and determination.

Building Toy Drive

This lesson focuses on enhancing the bond between you and your dog through play. The objective here is to develop a strong toy drive in your dog. By engaging in fun and exciting repetitions, we teach handlers how to use playtime effectively. This is crucial for making your dog comfortable with the idea of diving off the dock and ensuring they are keen to bring the toy back after each fetch.

Competitive Dock Diving Pre-Requisite

Our advanced dock diving course is where the real excitement begins; but here, obedience isn’t just a recommendation—it’s essential. For those looking to compete, mastering commands such as sit, stay, come, and retrieve are foundational skills that ensure your dog is not only safe but also a strong contender in competitive dock diving events. It’s no secret that many dogs find the lure of the water irresistible. That’s why incorporating obedience practice away from the dock is a crucial strategy for keeping your dog focused on the task at hand.

Our Advanced Dock Diving Lessons: What You Need to Know Before Getting Started

We offer group classes, private lessons, and pool rental for dock diving.
Group classes run 1-hour a week for 4-weeks.
Dog dock diving lessons are offered from April through October, weather permitting.
All dogs, big & small, are welcome.

Handler & Dog Requirements:
Handler/client must have basic obedience & control of dog (dog cannot be dragging the handler around). Hander must be comfortable and willing to go into the water to help with dog having an emergency.
